Two Men Arrested After Off-Road Motorcycle Strikes Woman on Kern River Trail in Bakersfield
Pedestrian Injured in Hit-and-Run Near Riverwalk Park
A woman walking on the Kern River Trail in Bakersfield suffered minor injuries after being struck by an off-road motorcycle in a hit-and-run crash. The Bakersfield Police Department responded to the area west of Riverwalk Park on August 23, 2026, at around 6:52 p.m. after receiving reports of the collision.
Motorized vehicles, including off-road motorcycles, are prohibited on the Kern River Trail. The trail is designated for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other authorized users, with an exception for Class 1 and Class 2 electric bicycles.
Suspects Detained Near South Allen Road
While investigating the crash, officers located two men riding off-road motorcycles on the trail near the undercrossing at South Allen Road. Police said the men attempted to flee when officers approached.
One of the motorcycles became disabled in the riverbed, which allowed officers to detain both riders. They were arrested on charges related to the incident, and both motorcycles were impounded.
