1300+Firefighters responded to a residential structure fire on Monday evening on Verde Street in Victorville, near Hesperia Road.
What Happened During the Fire
The fire was reported at about 5:10 p.m. on September 21, 2026, near Center Street Park. Victorville City Fire crews arriving on scene found smoke and flames coming from a rear unit on the property, which includes both a front unit and a separate rear unit.
Firefighters worked to keep the fire contained to the structure. Crews climbed onto the roof of the single-story building to cut ventilation holes, helping release smoke and heat while other firefighters worked to knock down the flames.
Animal Control was called to the scene due to several cats present at the property.
Road Closures and Injuries
Verde Street was closed between Hesperia Road and Center Street while emergency crews worked at the scene. No injuries were reported.
Arson Investigation Underway
According to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department media logs, the incident is being investigated under California Penal Code 451, the state law addressing arson.
Similar to the Palisades fires of 2025, under this statute, arson is defined as willfully and maliciously setting fire to, burning, or causing the burning of a structure, forest land, or property.
