At least two people were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle crash involving a box truck on northbound I-15 near the Summit Avenue exit early Saturday, October 10, 2026. The California Highway Patrol says the collision happened around 2:07 a.m., just past the 210 connectors in the Fontana and Rancho Cucamonga area.
Reports indicate a silver Kia Telluride SUV struck a box truck, a silver Tesla, and one additional vehicle that has not been identified.
Emergency Response and Lane Closures
Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department and San Bernardino County Fire crews responded to the scene. Firefighters reported that two people in the SUV were in serious distress. They were treated on scene and then taken to a nearby hospital. Their conditions have not been released.
CHP closed all northbound lanes shortly after 2:15 a.m. The two left lanes reopened around 3 a.m., and all lanes were open again by 4 a.m.
Cause Still Under Investigation
The CHP Rancho Cucamonga office is investigating. No cause has been announced, and no fault has been assigned to any driver. Investigators have not said whether speed, impairment, or another factor played a role.
Why Multi-Vehicle Freeway Crashes Raise Complicated Injury Questions
When three or more vehicles collide, one of the first questions is the order of impacts. Who hit whom, and in what sequence, can change how responsibility is divided. An accident reconstruction can help establish those facts when the police report leaves gaps.
A commercial vehicle adds another layer. When a box truck is involved, ownership, the driver’s employer, and insurance coverage may all matter.
Deadlines matter too. California generally gives injured people two years to file a personal injury lawsuit. Claims involving government entities can carry much shorter deadlines.
What to Do After a Truck Accident
Medical care comes first, even if injuries seem minor at the scene. Photos, witness names, and vehicle information help protect a claim later. Be careful about giving recorded statements to an insurance company before you understand your rights.
