1300+The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run crash that knocked out power to a large section of a local neighborhood. The collision happened on the evening of Tuesday, August 18 night near a local college campus and left authorities searching for a driver who fled the scene.
What Happened
The crash occurred at the intersection of Mount Vernon Avenue and University Avenue at around 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
No injuries were reported in connection with the crash. However, the impact was significant enough to disrupt electrical service to a large portion of the surrounding area.
Description of the Suspect Vehicle
Investigators believe the vehicle involved is a blue Toyota SUV, possibly similar in style to a Toyota FJ Cruiser. The vehicle is expected to have noticeable front-end damage from the collision.
