About the Ongoing Investigation Into the Male Body That Was Discovered
Deputies responded to reports of a body found near Baldy Mesa Road/3N21 and State Route 138 at around 11:13 a.m. According to California Highway Patrol logs, the body was located next to the train tracks, and no suspects or vehicles were seen in the area at the time.
Reports indicate the body had been in the area for some time before it was discovered. Officials have not released the identity of the deceased, and the cause and circumstances of the death remain under investigation.
A Second Incident in the Cajon Pass
This is the second time in recent weeks that a body has been found near railroad tracks in the Cajon Pass area. On July 16, 2026, Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) employees discovered a man near the tracks at Mile Marker 58.2 in Hesperia. Deputies found the man suffering from a gunshot wound, and investigators determined his death was a homicide.
That victim was later identified as 23-year-old Jorge Alejandro Quiroz Abarca of Michoacán, Mexico. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division Homicide Detail has been leading that investigation, and no arrests have been announced.
Authorities have not said whether the two cases are connected.
