When and How the Semi-Truck Crash Occurred
The truck crash occurred near Woollomes Avenue in Delano on Thursday morning. It initially closed both the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 99 while crews worked to clear debris from the roadway.
By around 6:05 a.m., the northbound lanes reopened to traffic. Southbound lanes remained closed for several more hours, with drivers diverted off the freeway at Woollomes Avenue.
As of later Thursday morning, all lanes have reopened following the cleanup.
Traffic Impact on the 99 Freeway and Lane Closures
Drivers heading through the Delano area faced major delays during the closure. Southbound traffic was rerouted off Highway 99 while crews cleared the scene, adding significant time to commutes for anyone traveling through Kern County on the 99 corridor.
