A 33-year-old Victorville man is facing felony charges after authorities say he crashed into a marked San Bernardino County Sheriff’s patrol vehicle on Highway 18 in Apple Valley early Tuesday morning.
The crash injured both the driver and the deputy inside the patrol car.
What Happened on Highway 18
The collision was reported at 12:49 a.m. on September 8, 2026, in the westbound lanes of Highway 18 near Rimrock Road.
According to a written statement from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy had positioned a marked patrol vehicle across the lanes of traffic. The vehicle and emergency lights were activated to warn drivers about a lane closure and ongoing police activity nearby.
A gray Mercedes SUV driven westbound by Tyrone Hall, 33, of Victorville struck the parked patrol vehicle while the deputy was seated inside.
Driver Fled the Scene on Foot
After the crash, Hall reportedly fled on foot but was located and detained by deputies a short distance away.
Both Hall and the deputy were taken to local hospitals for treatment. They were later released.
Once Hall was medically cleared, he was booked on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, causing injury, and felony hit-and-run.
Booking Details and Ongoing Investigation
Hall was booked into the High Desert Detention Center and is being held on $250,000 bail.
The Sheriff’s Department’s Major Accident Investigations Team is handling the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has related information is asked to contact Deputy Eli Harrison at 760-947-1500.
