1300+Four people were killed, and two others were left in critical condition after a single-vehicle rollover crash on Highway 2 near Wrightwood early Friday morning.
The California Highway Patrol’s Antelope Valley Area reported that the rollover crash happened around 1:30 a.m. on September 4, 2026. It occurred on State Route 2 near Mile Post Marker 81.30, between Big Pines and Wrightwood, along the eastern edge of the Angeles National Forest.
How the Crash Happened
According to CHP, a black 2016 Hyundai Veloster carrying six Wrightwood residents was traveling eastbound on State Route 2 when the driver allowed the vehicle to drift to the right.
The car left the roadway, overturned, and rolled down an embankment before striking a power pole.
Investigators said five of the six occupants were ejected during the rollover. Four of them suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Victims Rushed To The Hospital
The two surviving occupants were taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, where they remain in critical condition.
CHP’s preliminary findings indicate that none of the six people in the vehicle were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Investigators also said alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.
The names of those involved have not been released. Questions about the deceased are being directed to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
